The students of the Department of English at Notre Dame University Bangladesh (NDUB) are going to stage ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ a play written by William Shakespeare on Thursday, 7 November 2019 at 6:30 PM at Experimental Hall, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, Dhaka.
NDUB is the only private university which is taking this play to the national theater, directed by Md. Abdur Razzak Shongkar and Kumar Biswas, graduates of Dhaka University, Department of Theatre.
Vice Chancellor of NDUB Patrick D. Gaffney, CSC, said in this regard, ‘This play, Midsummer Night’s Dream, adds still another quality to this list, namely, magic. At one point in this play, a character called Bottom, offers a short commentary to help us grasp the meaning of this “dream.’
He also said that, ‘The teachers and students of Notre Dame University Bangladesh seek to discover truth, to nurture love, and to explore the depths of reason. Performing this play is one way that we can reply to Bottom by demonstrating how these ideals can once more be brought together. We are proud to have the opportunity to present this event and encourage you, the audience, to share fully in this extraordinary artistic adventure.’
