At least three people have been killed and over 50,000 affected by heavy rains and strong winds which lashed out across Sri Lanka since Tuesday.
The deaths were reported from Ratnapura, in south-central Sri Lanka, capital Colombo, and Gampaha, on the outskirts of the capital.
Over 400 people have been shifted to safer locations while over 40 houses were fully damaged and over 700 houses partially damaged.
Disaster management officials said they had instructed those living in low lying areas to evacuate if water levels in rivers passed the maximum limits.
The Meteorology Department, in its latest weather update, said more rains were expected across the country in the coming days, especially in some high-risk districts, and rains could even exceed 50 mm, according to Xinhua reports.
