An armed clash between two groups on Thursday left at least 10 people dead and another injured in Upper Dir district of Pakistan's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, local media and police said.
District police officer Mian Naseeb Jan told media that the incident took place when a group of armed gunmen opened fire at their opponents in Cheeragalai area of the district, leaving 10 people dead on the spot.
The gunmen opened fire after their opponents returned from a funeral prayer, and then escaped from the site.
Local police and rescue teams reached the site and shifted the bodies and the injured to a nearby hospital.
Police has launched an investigation into the incident and has started conducting raids to arrest the killers.
Local media quoting locals reported the two groups were on serious differences over the ownership of forestland, according to Xinhua reports
