26 Bangladeshis killed in Libya: Accused gets bail

The High Court has granted bail to a woman arrested in a case filed over the trafficking of 26 Bangladeshi migrants killed in Libya in May.

The bench of justice Jahangir Hossain and justice Md Badruzzaman passed the order on Tuesday.

Lawyer Kamruzzaman Kochi stood for the accused and deputy attorney general Md Bashir Ullah represented the state, reports UNB.

Bashir said Mosammat Sanjida secured bail as she is not facing any specific accusation of human trafficking.

They will file review appeal challenging the bail order, he said.

Sanjida was arrested on 8 June in a case filed against her and 35 others with the Paltan police station.

On 1 June, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Kamal Hossain alias Hazi Kamal, 55, the ringleader of a human trafficking gang from Khilbarirtek at Shahadatpur in Madaripur town.

On 28 May, human traffickers killed 30 migrant workers in Libya in a smuggling warehouse in Mezda, southwest of Tripoli.
