Moudud review dismissed, case will go on

Appeal department's order reconsidered (review) petition dismissing the proceedings of an ACC case against  BNP Standing Committee member Barrister Moudud Ahmed was dismissed to the court.

The Appellate Division, headed by the Chief Justice, passed the order on Sunday. As a result, the prosecution will continue to testify in the judicial court in this case, the ACC lawyer said.

According to court sources, the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) directed Moudud to declare all immovable assets and sources of anonymity in the name of his own, wife and grandchildren on July 3, 2007. In the asset statement, Moudud has acquired assets worth Tk. 7 crore 38 lakh 64 thousand 2 hundred 87. And he had hidden information of assets worth Tk4 crore 40 lakh 37 thousand 3 hundred 75.

On September 7, 2007, ACC Deputy Director Shariful Haque Siddiqui filed a case against Moudud at Gulshan Police Station in the capital. After the investigation on May 14 of the following year, he filed the charge sheet (charge sheet) in the court.
