AL councilor Manju placed on 10 day remand

Dhaka court on Friday has granted police total 10 days to grill in custody Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) ward councilor and the ruling party Awami League leader Moinul Haque Manju, in 2 cases involving drugs and illegal firearms. And court also put Manju's car driver Sajjad on a 5 day remand.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Dhiman Chandra Mondal passed the remand order after hearing a plea to question Manju for 14 days in the 2 cases.

On the other hand, Rapid Action Battalion (Rab-3) raided the office of Manju, AL councilor of ward No 39, on Thursday noon and arrested him, reports correspondent.

RAB said to media that councilor Manju was allegedly involved in extortion in Tikatuli’s Rajdhani Super Market, New Super Market, land-grabbing, drug and other illegal business.
