Death row convict Abdus Sobhan passes away

Former Nayeb-e-Amir of Jamaat -e-Islami Maulana Abdus Sobhan (84), who has been awarded death penalty for committing crimes against humanity in 1971 war, passed away while undergoing treatment at DMCH in the capital on Friday, according to media reports.

Abdus Sobhan, also the former lawmaker of Pabna-5 constituency, breathed his last at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) around  1:45 pm, his relative Golam Hadi confirmed the news this afternoon.

On February 18 in 2015, the International Crimes Tribunal-2 (ICT-2) awarded death penalty to the top Jamaat-e-Islami leader for his crimes against humanity and including mass killing.
