A housewife has died from dengue fever in Shibpur upazila on early Sunday.
The victim was Sumi Akter (30) wife of Anwar Hossain of Kathalbari village of Shibpur upazila.
Officer-in-charge of Shibpur Police Station, Abul Kalam Azad said: Sumi was diagnosed with dengue on August-20, and the physicians referred her to Dhaka Medical College Hospital following deterioration of her condition, but she died around 2 am at the Mawa ferry
terminal in Munshiganj.
According to the government, 59,592 patients infected with dengue were hospitalised across the country and 53,398 of them discharged after treatment since the beginning of this year.
And, at last 6,287 dengue patients are undergoing treatment at different hospitals and clinics, according to the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services.
The (DMCH) has so far confirmed the deaths of 76 people but unofficial estimates suggest the death toll is much higher.
