3 robbers killed in 'gunfight' with police in Comilla

Three people were killed in a gunfight with police in Comilla. Police said they were members of a robbery team.

The three men were killed in a gunfight with police while preparing for a robbery at Kumla in Burichang Upazila on Sunday night.

The deceased were identified as Ali Mia (42), son of deceased Abul Hashem, of Jagatpur area of ​​Comilla Burichang Upazila. Babul (38), son of Joynal Abedin of Charbakar area of ​​Devidwar Upazila and Ershad (26) son of Tajul Islam, of Gopal Nagar area of ​​Brahmanpara Upazila.

It was reported that a group of robbers had been preparing for the robbery that last night, based on information from trusted sources, when a group of five to six robbers was taking preparation for robbery, sensing the presence of police, the suspected robbers opened fire on them, prompting them to retaliate by firing. As the gunfight was over, most of the robbers fled away,  adding that, later, the RAB team found two bullets injured robbers.

The injured were rushed to Gomostapur Upazila Health Complex where on-duty doctors declared them dead,

When contacted, Acul Chandra Biswas, officer-in-charge of Budichanthana about the matter, said that there will be a press briefing on the matter in the morning where details will be revealed.
