Locals said the media that a group of miscreants equipped with arms kidnapped six villagers at Ruma Upazila in Bandarban on Sunday.
Ruma Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) confirmed that the abducted person was identified as Mong Hring Ong Marma (42), Ugamong Marma (48), Mong Geing Marma (31), Singthoai Mong Marma (30), Prusi Ong Marma (44), and Thoai Hlaching Marma (54).
Ruma Sadar union council Chairman, Shoibong Marma said the media that more than 15, armed men rushed into Samalkhal Parha village under Ruma Sadar union council around 1:20 pm in search of the village chief U Hlaching Marma, and then, they later took the six villagers away and beat up several other villagers during the assault.
union council Chairman also said that we are still not sure who are involved in the kidnapping and after the incident, locals fled the area.
Some locals told the media some members of Mog Liberation Party demanded chicken and rice from the villagers on Saturday night, as the villagers informed the police about the matter, the group became angry and searched for the village chief U Hlaching.
Locals also said that the abductors had said they would release 6 peoples, if the villagers handed them their chief.
Ruma Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abul Kashem said the media: The army, police and BGB have launched a joint operation to rescue the abducted villagers.
(OC) Abul Kashem told that It is suspected that members of Mog Liberation Party may have done this.
