2 Jubo League leaders arrested for extortion

Police arrested 2-leaders of Jubo League’s Kushtia Sadar unit in an extortion case, Jubo League General Secretary Mijanur Rahman (37), and Kushtia town unit convener Ashraful Sujon (42), on Friday night around 10 pm. 

Kushtia Police Chief SM Tanvir Arafat said the media that they were accused in an extortion case filed by a local businessman at the Kushtia Islamic University Police Station, and police are trying to arrest others named in the case. 

On the other hand, members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested 142 people from a "casino" in city’s Fakirerpool area On September 18.

Sarwor Alam, executive magistrate of RAB said the media that a mobile court of the elite force conducted a drive at Fakirerpool Youngmen's Club around 6 pm and detained them from its "casino".

Director of RAB also told that a huge amount of currency, foreign liquor and some casino boards were seized from the club.

And, RAB arrested Jubo League’s central committee leader GK Shamim from Dhaka with illegal firearms and a huge amount of money more than Tk 1.5 core and Tk 146 core FDR.
