We're self-sufficient in food: PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina told: Today, we’re self-sufficient in food. Bangladesh is now a food-surplus country.

Speak about the recent rumors over the scarcity of 'onion and salt' in the market, Sheikh Hasina on Thursday urged all not to pay heed to such ‘propaganda’. I know this would be done. It is normal. We have to move on facing all this.

Prime Minister said this while speaking on reception at the Army Multipurpose Complex in Dhaka Cantonment of the Armed Forces Day 2019.

PM said that we see confusion being created carrying out false propaganda on many occasions. I would like to tell you all not to pay heed to such propaganda; the government pays its due attention to food and nutrition.

PM told that many types of propaganda are being spread suddenly as if there is no onion, salt or any other item in the market and thus mislead people.

PM said that we achieved victory in the Liberation War. We are a victorious nation. And share the stories of the Liberation war; so that our future generations may know how we’ve been a victorious nation, the Bangale can never suffer any defeat.

Sheikh Hasina said that now Bangladesh is considered as a dignified country in the whole world, our government’s goal is to turn Bangladesh into a hunger, poverty-free, and prosperous country as dreamt by the Father of the Nation.

A total of 101 family members of seven Bir Shresthas, gallantry award-winning freedom fighters, and their family members attended the function. The Prime Minister handed over cheques of honorariums to them.

The Prime Minister hosted the reception for the close relatives of the Bir Shresthas and other gallantry ‘award-winning’ freedom fighters and their family members.
