At least ten people, including five of a family, were killed in a collision between a bus and a minibus in Shrenagar Upazila of Munshiganj of Friday afternoon. Within a few weeks of enforcement of a news Transport Act to bring discipline on road and highways.
The deceased included two children and two women but their identities could not be known yet.
Asaduzzaman, additional police superintendent, Sreenagar Circle, said to media that the Mawa-bound passenger bus of Swadhin Paribahancollided with the Dhaka-bound microbus in the area around 2 pm, leaving all the eight microbus passengers dead on the spot.
Sreenagar circle ASP Md Asaduzzaman told that the microbus was carrying a bridal party to Kamrangirchar in Keraniganj from Konkoshar in Louhajang Upazila.
A Maowa-bound bus of 'Swadhin Paribahan' collided with a microbus bound for Dhaka at Shologhar bus stand at around 2 pm.
All the bodies were kept at Sreenagar Upazila Health Complex.
Police and firefighters with the help of local people are conducting rescue operations.
