'PM violated election rule'

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had violated election rule by urging people to cast votes for ‘Boat’ symbol, said on Saturday afternoon BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.

Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir made this allegation at a press briefing at Nayapaltan office after voting to Dhaka City polls ended.

“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina urged people to cast their votes for ‘Boat’ symbol after she cast her vote at Dhaka City College polling center today morning, it is a direct violation of election rule,” Mirza Fakhrul said.

He said that polling agents of ‘Sheaf of Paddy’ were barred to enter polling booths, who were able to enter polling booths faced threats from Awami League men.

Fakhrul Islam said that huge numbers of ruling party men were seen gathered in front of all polling centers in Dhaka City violating electoral rules but police did not take any action against them.
