Finally, Jatiya Party chairman and former President Hussein Muhammad Ershad was buried in the village of Pollinebash in Rangpur. The villagers formed for their residence in Rangpur are the last address of opposition leader of the parliament.
Earlier in the day, a helicopter carrying the body of the Leader of the Opposition in the Parliament landed at Rangpur Cantonment around 11:50 am. His fourth Namaz-e-Janaza was held there this afternoon.
He was set to be buried at Combined Military Graveyard in Dhaka today. However, Rangpur and Rajshahi units of the party vowed to keep the body in Rangpur for burial and the partymen had already dug a grave for their leader in his hometown yesterday.
Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad passed away on Sunday morning while undergoing treatment in the capital's Combined Military Hospital (CMH). He was 89.
He breathed his last at 7:45 am at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital.
