At least thirty people have died as a passenger launch with around 50 passengers sank in the river Buriganga near Farashganj area of Dhaka on Monday morning.
The incident took place around 9:33 am near Cumilla Dock area, Duty Officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence duty officer Mohammad Shahadat said.
He said they have found so far thirty bodies as the members of fire service, coast guard, river police and Bangladesh Navy rushed to the spot to join the rescue act.
The launch was coming to Dhaka from Munshiganj, he added.
On information, divers from Sadarghat fire station rushed to the spot and started rescue operation with the help of locals to rescue the missing people, fire service sources said.
