Madhukhali Upazila chairman dies of  coronavirus

Madhukhali Upazila chairman Mirza Maniruzzaman has died from coronavirus infections at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Wednesday morning.

Maniruzzaman, also president of Madhukhali Upazila Awami League, breathed his last at the hospital while undergoing treatment.

Faridpur deputy commissioner Atul Sarkar confirmed the matter.

He tested positive for coronavirus on October 25 and since then, he was undergoing treatment at DMCH.

The namaz-e-janaza of Bachchu will be held at Madhukhali Eidgah Maidan after Asr prayer, said General Secretary of Upazila unit Awami League Rezaul Karim.

Later, he will be buried at Madhukhali graveyard under the management of the local administration.

Bangladesh on Tuesday recorded 1,335 new coronavirus patients across the country in 24 hours, taking the total tally to 401,586.

Twenty more patients died from Covid-19 during the period, raising the death toll to 5,838.
