No hope for Khaleda's release through legal battle: Moudud

BNP Standing Committee member Barrister Moudud Ahmed said he has lost all hopes of release party chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia from imprisonment through a legal battle.

Moudud said while addressing a rally, organized by the BNP-led 20-Party Alliance, to mourn the murder of Buet student Abrar Fahad, at Jatiya Press Club on Tuesday (October 15) morning.

He said, "I do not think that Begum Zia can be freed from jail through a legal process or even on parole.”

The senior BNP leader said, "she must be released through a movement. The 20-Party Alliance will stay until the end. We will grow bigger as a coalition to further strengthen the protest movement."

He also said, "Each and every wing [Chhatra League, Jubo League, and others party] of this government is corrupted through extortions and tender manipulations. This government must step down as soon as possible for the wellbeing of the country."

Speaking about the killing of Buet student Abrar Fahad, Moudud said, "Chhatra League has been terrorizing all universities, and creating torture cells in every hall, which came to light after Abrar's death."

BNP standing committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Vice-Chairman Abdul Awal Mintu, Bangladesh National Party Chairman Syed Ehsanul Huda, Mostafa Jalal Mohiuddin, Faridman Mohammed Razamar, Chairperson of the BNP standing committee Amir Professor c Mawlana Abdul Halim, and several leaders from the BNP-led 20-Party Alliance were also present at the procession.
