10th national council of Krishak League today

The 10th national council of Bangladesh Krishak League, an associate body of the ruling Awami League (AL), will be held today.

Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to inaugurate the council at the historic Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital at 11:00 am.

Later, the election of new central committee of the Krishak League will be held at the council session at Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB) auditorium.

On April 19 in 1972, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman founded Bangladesh Krishak League aimed at working for the betterment of agriculture and farmers to attain the country’s economic emancipation.

Abdur Rob Serniabat was the founding president of Krishak League. He was one of the martyrs of August 15, 1975 carnage.

The last council of the organization was held on July 19 in 2012. A 111-member committee was formed through the council making Motahar Hossain Molla as president and Shamsul Haque Reza as general secretary.

Marking the national council, a 90-feet long and 30-feet wide stage has been built in the shape of a farmer’s house at the council venue Suhrawardy Udyan.

All preparations have almost been completed to hold the council, Krishak League Organizing Secretary Sakhawaat Hossain Sweet told media. The council venue wore a festive look marking the council, he said.

Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the Suhrawardy Udyan has been made with green grasses. Makeshift fruit-bearing and medicinal trees and bamboo gardens have been erected in and around the roads of the entrance, he added. Source: BSS
