'BNP is blaming govt to avoid public anger'

Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader said that the BNP is afraid to go to the people because of their culpability of failure in struggle-movement and the election.

So they are chewing the fat at media while maintaining a safe distance from the people. Instead of being by the side of helpless people affected by the cyclone during the (coronavirus) disasters, they are protesting against the government.

He said that these are ill-targeted propaganda of BNP, which is nothing but a mental disability. There is no coordination among party leaders. They set fire to their own office. Workers beat the leader, who can’t coordinate among themselves, do they talk about coordination again? In this country, the Awami League is the first to run on the side of the masses in disasters, this is the tradition of the Awami League. It is the tradition of the BNP to cover the head maintaining a safe distance in the disastrous period.

He made the remarks in a video message from his official residence in the Parliament House area on Monday.

Regarding the introduction of public transport and an increase in fares, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has said that in order to prevent coronavirus infection, drivers have started driving leaving half the seats vacant.

“The government has adjusted the fares as per the reality and conditional public transport is running from today. I urge the owners to drive in compliance with the hygiene and conditions.”

He also called on the vigilance team including law enforcement agencies, mobile courts, and terminal authorities to keep half the seats vacant and reins the increased the fare by 60 percent and ensure compliance with hygiene rules and wearing masks.
