Members of the Christian faith are celebrating Christmas Day, the birthday of Jesus Christ, the first-century Jewish preacher and religious leader, is being celebrated around the world including Bangladesh on Friday.
They will celebrate the day by offering special prayers, illuminating churches. Special prayers were arranged at all churches across the country in the morning seeking recovery coronavirus patients in the world.
A special prayer was held at St. Mary's Cathedral Church in Kakrail area at around 8.30 am maintaining health guide-lines, In Dhaka city. This year it is limited to one due to the spread of Covid-19.
Priest of St. Mary’s Cathedral Church Father Bimal Francis Gomez said to media that they held prayer seeking the blessing for all people across the world.
Decoration of Christmas trees with colorful lights, special prayers, distribution of gifts among children, and exchange of pleasantries are the main features of the day’s festivities.
The day is celebrating in a limited scale maintaining health rules, including maintaining social distancing and wearing masks everywhere, due to the pandemic Covid-19.
President M Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in separate messages, greeted members of the Christian community on the occasion.
