England's World Cup winning captain Eoin Morgan for the upcoming edition of of Bangladesh Premier League, he will play for Dhaka Dynamites.
On Sunday (July 21) franchises officials confirmed.
"We have signed Morgan for the upcoming edition of BPL considering his vast experience in shorter format cricket," Dynamites chief executive Obaid Nizam told Cricbuzz. "We are expecting him to be available for the whole season"
Morgan, who led England men's team to their maiden 50-over World Cup title, is one of the two permitted direct overseas signings for the side. They are yet to take a call on who to hand their captaincy to, with Shakib Al Hasan also part of their setup.
The Dynamites won their only BPL title in 2016 under Shakib's captaincy but failed to win the championship under his leadership in the last two editions despite reaching the finals. "We have to think about it (captaincy) because you know we have Shakib with us and he is leading the side for quite some time," Nizam said.
Meanwhile, this will be Morgan's debut season in the BPL. However, the England limited-overs skipper isn't a complete stranger in Bangladesh's domestic circuit, having played for Legends of Rupganj in the Dhaka Premier League, the country's prestigious club-based 50-over tournament, in 2014.
